ACH Debit (Electronic Check)
The Town currently accepts ACH debits (electronic transfer from your checking account) for payment of real estate tax, personal property tax, utility bills, boat excise and motor vehicle excise in cooperation with Metropolitan Communications Corp. for a $0.25 transaction fee. You may access the online payment center by clicking the blue ebill icon below. Please follow the directions to register as a BILL PAYER.
CREDIT CARDS (MasterCard, VISA, Discover, American Express)
The Town also accepts most major credit cards for payment of tax titles, real estate tax, personal property tax, boat excise and motor vehicle excise in cooperation with Official Payments Corp. for a convenience fee (Click here to see the fee schedule). Utility bills may also be paid by credit card but there is a limit of $500 per transaction but you can make more than one transaction at a time. This service is safe, reliable and in accordance with all state and government regulations. In order to process your payment, Official Payments Corporation, the credit card service provider, charges a nominal convenience fee based on the amount of the transaction. EASY PAYMENT VIA PHONE OR INTERNET
To pay by credit card call the toll free number 1-800-2PAY-TAXSM (800-272-9829) or visit www.officialpayments.com to pay taxes by credit card over the Internet. (For telephone payments, enter your Jurisdiction Code when prompted.)
You will be asked to enter information such as:
The type of tax or fee
A bill or invoice number
Your credit card information
The amount of the tax or fee payment
Your social security number (for state payments)
The system will:
Tell you the total of your payment including the appropriate fee
Obtain approval of the charge
Issue an onscreen confirmation number and a printable digital receipt. Confirmation is emailed to users who request it. The charge will also appear on your credit card statement: the tax amount on one line, the convenience fee amount on a separate line.
