WHEN CAN I PURCHASE MY 2008 LANDFILL STICKERS...?

As another year draws to a close, more and more residents inquire of the DPW – when will the new 2008 Landfill stickers be available?  The stickers will not be available until after January 1, 2008.  But to save time, trouble and aggravation, we ask that you please call ahead to make sure they are in....

DONT FORGET!

You MUST provide:

(1) - Proof of residency, as well as.... (Examples would be driver’s license, tax bill, water bill, or some other documentation that shows you own the property for which you are seeking a sticker to take the trash to the transfer station.)

(2) -A valid registration to the vehicle you will be using to bring in your trash; this is important as this is the only vehicle that will be allowed in with your trash to the transfer station.  The sticker should be proudly affixed to the driver’s side window for easy identification. and,

(3)- CASH, PERSONAL CHECK or MONEY ORDER for the exact amount due.

Initial sticker for your first car - $ 20.00
                Each additional Car -            10.00

How Can I  Opt-Out of Town Trash Services?

First, the Board of Health requires that ALL residences and businesses must have some form of trash service.
If you don't have Town trash, you must have a private hauler.   The private hauler contract must be for a one-year period covering the current fiscal year and include the exact location of the pickup and date started to the end of the current fiscal year.  The Fiscal year runs from July 1st through June 30th every year.

If you have your contract in before the bills go out, you will not be charged the trash rate for that year or only a small portion which was not covered due to the start date of the contract.  If the Solid Waste Division of the DPW does not have a copy of your current year contract on file, you will receive trash as part of your utility bill.  Once billed, you will have ninety (90) days to file in order to qualify for an abatement.

NOTE:  IF YOU OPT-OUT OF TOWN TRASH SERVICES - YOU MUST SURRENDER ALL TRANSFER STATION STICKERS AND ALL RIGHTS TO TOWN SERVICES PROVIDED.
