TOWN OF MARSHFIELD
SPECIFICATIONS FOR FURNISHING COMPREHENSIVE LEAK SURVEY
Sealed proposals are hereby solicited for furnishing the Town of Marshfield, Water Division, DPW, 870 Moraine Street, Marshfield, MA 02050 with a Comprehensive Leak Survey in accordance with the following specifications:
METHOD OF SURVEY:
Survey shall be conducted with an electro-sonic leakage detection instrument with sound amplifiers and pick-ups capable of detecting leakage of ten (10) gallons per hour or more.
Surveyor shall: Listen directly to hydrants, main valves, and selected curb valves.
Use ground microphones directly over the main at intervals of six to ten feet where the location of the main is under road surface.
Where main is under sod, establish a pattern of listening points to insure complete coverage.
Listen over mains at all tie-ins and selected service taps.
Locate and pinpoint all leak indications.
Draw reports in triplicate and classify leaks according to severity with an estimate of water loss.
Prepare a progressive map with symbols indicating leaks and classification corresponding to the leak report.
Deliverables:
At the completion of the survey, a final report will be prepared and submitted which will include the original of the leak reports; a total estimated water loss, and a summary of the over-all project.
Basis of Payment:
Survey is intended to cover approximately one hundred (100) miles of various sized main. Payment shall be made on a unit price per mile of survey completed.
