This trailer is a fire safety education tool that is planned for our Annual Open House, and at other special events.
There are many props in the trailer to help children actually understand fire safety practices. We can fill the rooms with non-toxic "smoke" so children will understand what that might be like, there is an actual bedroom with a bed so kids canpractice staying low while getting out of bed and escaping down an actual escape ladder. There is a door that can be heated so kids will understand feeling a door before opening it. There is a stove to explain stove safety. There are many other things that allow our trained Firefightrers to help our children enjoy learning fire safety. At our most recent Open House on October 15,2006. we had over 400 people attend. It is a very successful event for our commity. Our next Open House will be held at the Central Fire Station, 60 South
River Street on September 30, 2007, from 11:00 AM to 2:30 PM
Fire Prevention Week is October 7 through October 13, 2007.
