Dredging Update #2
To: All Mariners 12/10/09
From: Marshfield Harbormaster Department
Re: Green Harbor Dredging
The Green Harbor Dredging project is ongoing. All mariners are advised to use caution while transiting the Harbor and entrance channel. The inner and outer Harbor remains a “No Wake Zone” especially in the vicinity of the Dredging equipment. Please show courtesy to the working crews as they continue to enhance our Harbor. The Dredging contractors (Cashman Co. & Patriot Marine) will be monitoring VHF Channels 16 & 13. Their primary working channel is 69 for day to day dredging operations. The tug boat “Lucinda” will be the new working tug for the Federal project. The “Eddie Carroll” & “Mighty Quinn” are the dump scows; the “Wood 1” is the actual dredge platform. The crews will
broadcast on VHF channels 16, 69 in advance when they will be towing the dump scow to the designated disposal site. This should ensure advanced notice to mariners.
The dredging work will continue to operate approximately 2 hours before low tide and be completed approximately 1 hour into the out going tide. Cashman co. will be shifting over to 2 shifts per day (7 days a week); weather permitting. Cashman is nearing completion of outer Harbor dredging. Once inside the Harbor, there should only be minor inconveniences when the scow and barge are moving about the Harbor area. Patriot Marine will continue the dredging of Green Harbor Marina for the next couple of weeks. If inclement weather is expected offshore, Patriot Marine may elect to start dredging along the Marshfield Commercial piers. This will help to reduce lost dredging days due to weather, as the Town’s portion is being disposed of in the upland disposal site. Any concerns should
be addressed to the Harbormaster department or the Marshfield police department during after hours.
Sincerely,
Officer Michael DiMeo
Harbormaster

Green Harbor dredging project to commence on 09 November 2009
The Federal portion of this project will consist of the removal of approx. 60,000 cubic yards of sediment from both the Outer & Inner Harbor.
The Town of Marshfield will also be conducting maintenance dredging along the North & South Commercial piers. In addition, to the dredging project there will be a marine contractor
on site re-bracing the Commercial fish piers. This work is expected to start on or about 2 November 2009. The mooring removal contractor is presently on site in Green Harbor, the contractor
will start to remove the current moorings to allow the ease of the dredging projects. The Harbor area will be extremely busy over the next couple of months; there will be some inconveniences as with any project. All dredging concerns should be directed to the Harbormasters office.
There will be a public meeting with the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USCAE) and the awarded dredging contractor (J. Cashman co.). The USACE and dredging contractor will discuss the project details and answer questions regarding the dredging. This meeting will take place on Wednesday 04 November 2009 at 10:30am at the Marshfield Town Hall 870 Moraine Street. Hearing room# 2 and 3
