New Technology Projects
Saving time and money while providing more efficient services are the reasons we implement technologies. To serve the public in a more advantageous manner utilizing these technologies will effectively bring positive differences to our community. Take a look at how we make a positive difference for the local community utilizing the latest technologies.
Intranet Technologies:
Marshfield is on the Horizon of Implementing the first Interconnected Topology between all Municipal and School buildings. Marshfield’s Fiber Cabling will allow the town to take advantage of the high speed Gigabit Technology for Remote data access, and the remote sharing of applications. Programs that utilize high bandwidth with large data streams will work efficiently with minimum amounts of Lag time.
This Robust technology will be used with Data Applications such as: GeoSpatial Information Systems (GIS), which Police, Fire and Municipal departments will rely on for up to date information regarding Emergency Management conditions. Financial Management software applications will now be available to all locations in a Robust manner, which currently have limited use from Remote locations utilizing a slow connection. School Departments will be able to teach our children as one body even though separated by buildings or distances. With applications and curriculum running from a central location effective time management will increase and communications and presentations will be real time for all locations.
With new Technologies requiring high speed connections for data and voice, Marshfield will align it’s Technology needs to utilize Voice over IP, (VoIP) for potentially new communications equipment in the near future. Fault Tolerant and Redundency solutions will now be in place to resume business within twenty-four hours of specific types of disasters.
Geospatial Information Technologies (GIS)
Marshfield currently is searching the most advantageous manner in which we can update Assessors maps, DPW Utilities, Police databases, Fire maps etc. With our current Digital data, we will be able to access and update data on many local levels.
Police will know how many gun permits there are in Marshfield while mappping them out with needed attributes with the touch of a button from their cruiser. Fire departments will be able to see up to date aerial photos of all surrounding structures while answering a call. DPW will be able to map out the best Snow Plow routes and manipulate them with ease based on Storm Track.
These few instances are but just a few applications for GIS in Marshfield. Engineers will now be able to reduce time in the field by utilizing this software to take general measurements and apply them to there project at hand from their desktop.
The public will be able to zoom down on their neighborhoods or houses to see how the latest building proposal might affect their community.
Marshfield’s citizens will be able to look at neighborhood values and also view the value’s of any house in Marshfield with a basic web browser supplied with most existing and any new PC’s purchased today. And the information you would have had to travel to Town hall to view is now available from your own home.
Many relevant task once complete often need duplication again and again. Task will now be efficiently done through the use of GIS. Data manipulation and availability will soon require less work and allow for more task to be tackled in the same time period.
Take a look at a functional website and feel free to explore the possibilities.
