General Information
REGISTRATION PROCEDURE: You may register for any of our activities when you receive the brochure. We encourage mail-ins, (through U.S. Post Office) mail in registration will begin when you receive the brochure, this allows equal access.
Walk in registration will begin after mail in registration. The registration form must be completed and signed by parent/legal guardian in order for child/children to participate. Please refer to the brochure for specific dates and times. REGISTER EARLY: WAIT LIST POLICY!!!! Register as soon as possible, programs / trips are offered on a first come, first serve basis. Mail In Registration is always first, then Walk In, (see brochure for specific dates) Registration maybe limited due to subject matter, space limitations, and leadership ratio. NEW!! When you register we will email you an enrollment receipt if you provide your current email address. When a program / trip is full, we will email you a Wait List receipt. We will also call your home to inform you that you are on a Walt List. You will make no payment at that time. Office staff will contact you if we are able to add you into the program / trip. (There is no need to call the office to check your status.) When you are placed on the wait list make sure that we have your correct address and phone number on file. All individuals who participate in recreation programs do so at their own risk.
Marshfield Recreation invites participation in programs regardless of one’s race, religion, color, sex, marital status, national origin, sexual orientation, political beliefs or ability. MAILING LIST: Sign up now for brochure mailing list. Cost $8,for one year, includes: three brochures and some additional mailings. please note: Families on the mailing list receive their brochure a few days before it goes out to the general public. NON RESIDENT REGISTRATION: Recreation programs will be open to non-residents on a space available basis. Please refer to the brochure for specific dates FEES AND CANCELLATIONS: All Fees are payable when you register. The Recreation Department does not accept telephone registrations or credit cards. Late registrations pay full fee, no prorating. A person is considered registered when a check (payable to the Town of Marshfield) is accompanied by a completed registration form is received by the Recreation Department. Due to the number of registrations, we do not confirm placement by mail or phone. No acknowledgement will sent to you, please note all information on your calender. Enrollment is automatic unless otherwise noted. If you include a self-addressed stamped envelope we will mail you a program receipt and confirmation registration. Classes that do not attain the minimum enrollment will be cancelled one-week (7days) prior to the scheduled start. We reserve the right to reschedule or change classes. Payment plans are available, but need to be set up by the Recreation Director. Please note: the Town of Marshfield charges a $25 fee on all returned checks. SCHOLARSHIP FUND: Fee based programs can create a financial hardship for some families. Residents unable to participate in youth programs due to financial reasons may qualify for financial assistance, consideration upon written request. We believe that public recreation is important and it serves to improve the quality of life for individuals and the community alike. If you would like to contribute to this fund, please refer to the program registration form when you register. REFUNDS: Full refunds will be issued if a program is full, cancelled by Marshfield Recreation or if you withdraw before the start of the program. You may withdraw from a program up to five (5) working days in advance of the starting date of the program and receive a refund minus a $5.00 processing fee (separate policy for licensed childcare programs). One-day classes and /or trip participants must find a replacement to receive a refund.
Refunds are available with a written request and during the current term. Refunds may take up to 4 weeks for processing. In fairness to our waitlist customers, registration is non -transferable. PROGRAM INFORMATION: For safety resons, whenever Marshfield Public schools are cancelled or released early due to snow or other weather conditions, all of our programs will be cancelled as well. Regular scheduled outdoor programs will not be held during periods of inclement weather. If you have a question call the Recreation Department (781) 834-5543 or listen to WATD 95.9 (781)837-1166 unless previously arranged, canceled classes will not be made up. PHOTO POLICY: The department reserves the right to photograph program participants for publicity purposes for flyers, brochures, and our web page. If you do not want your photo taken you must notify the recreation office. SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE The Marshfield Recreation Department offers programs, trips and special events year round and publishes seasonal Community Brochures for Fall, Winter/Spring and Summer programs. (Sept. Jan. May). These brochures are available at the Town Hall, Chamber of Commerce, Ventress Memorial Library, Elementary Schools, Denny’s Barber Shop, Seaside Homes, our Child Care Center and Office. Additional information is published in the Patriot Ledger, Marshfield Mariner, and School Weekly Notices. Please E-mail us at NBangs@mpsd.org. You will also find our seasonal brochures on the recreation web site. You can scan the brochure, print out a registration form and mail it in. Go to www.townofmarshfield.org. Look in the Newcomers section and then click on recreation programs. Join our email list and receive up to date information on programs, cancellations, registrations etc. go to www.townofmarshfield.org scroll on the home page and simply follow the directions. It is easy to subscribe and unsubscribe and best of all it if FREE!
CODE OF CONDUCT Proper behavior by all participants is expected at all times. In instances of improper behavior, parent (s) will be notified. If behavior cannot be corrected then the individual (s) will be excused from further program (s). Participants are expected to exhibit proper behavior at all times. Participants shall show respect toward fellow participants and staff, refrain from foul language and be respectful of all equipment, supplies, and facilities. The Recreation Department reserves the right to terminate individuals who cannot exhibit proper behavior. DON'T LET A GOOD PROGRAM DIE!!! Nothing kills a good class better than everyone putting off registering until the last minute. If we have not received the minimum number of participants, we will have to cancel the program. We will cancel under subscribed classes. All programs have limits and deadlines, deadlines are one week before starting dates, unless otherwise noted or already filled. Waiting to the last minute won’t revive the class! DON’T WAIT!! SIGN UP AND PARTICIPATE. Programs require a high level of coordination including facility scheduling, staffing, and volunteer recruitment.
