Extended Day Program
Martinson Site
Judy Rockwell
Judy has been teaching for 36 years, and she presently teaches Pre-K at PHPS. Judy has been a Site Coordinator at The Martinson Extended Day for three years. In addition Judy coordinates the 2nd grade First Communion program at St. Christine’s. Fun facts about her: She has one daughter who is presently working at Disney World in Florida and she is also taking college courses on line.
Debi Leahy
Debi recently joined the Martinson Staff as a Site Coordinator. She graduated from Boston State College with a degree in Elementary Education. She has volunteered at the Daniel Webster and Furnace Brook schools. She is very involved in the community, working with the Cub and Girl Scouts and was a licensed Day Care provider for 5 years.
Catherine Durkin
Catherine is a Senior at Marshfield High School. She is a Captain of the Lacrosse team at the High School, and a Peer Leader at MHS. Catherine has worked at the Martinson Extended Day for two years, during the summer of 2006 she worked at Daniel Webster Playground, where she was a previous volunteer.
Katie Murphy
Katie is 18 years old Senior at MHS where she plays soccer and lacrosse. Katie is a Captain of the Lacrosse team for the spring 2007 season. At MHS she participates in Student Council and Key Club. During the summer Katie works as a counselor at Daniel Webster Playground. She has worked at the Martinson Extended Day Program for 2 years, hre birthday is Sept 27. When not working she enjoys going to the beach. Fun fact about Katie: Her favorite color is green!!
Kelsey Lenahan
Kelsey is 18 years old and a Senior at MHS. Her hobbies include Ballet, Arts & Crafts, National Honor Society, Student Council & Key Club. (she is the Historian of the Key Club) This is Kelsey’s 2nd year at M.E.S. Extended Day Program. She also enjoyed working this summer at Daniel Webster Playground. Some fun facts about Kelsey: Her Birthday is October 19th! She loves the Beach and she has a dog named Coley! Her favorite colors are Hot Pink and Orange!!
Governor Winslow Site
Bonner Boynton
Bonner has worked at the Governor Winslow Extended Day program for three years. She received her Masters Degree in Outdoor Recreation Administration in 2001 at Aurora University.
Fun facts bout Bonner: She lives in Pembroke with her husband, Carey and her 2 “Kids” Yogi & Jackson (Black Labs!!) She got married in Colorado and made a grand entrance via helicopter! She and Carey celebrated their 1st Anniversary in May at Disney!! Very magical.
Over the past few years she and Carey have renovated their house and enjoy watching the sunset on our porch and watching the birds flying overhead to their “night time nest”.
Diane Kane
Diane is a Site Coordinator at GWS. Some of you may know her from last year, which was her first year with the Marshfield Recreation Dept. Extended Day Program. Diane has worked as a Teaching Asst. for the Head Start Program in Marshfield and the Pilgrim Area Collaborative for Autistic Children. She has an Associates Degree in the Liberal Arts and am certified in ABA Therapy by the May Institute.
Her most rewarding experiences are being a mother and working with children. Diane looks forward to another great year at GWS! Fun facts about her: Diane lives in Marshfield with her husband and three teenage children. For many years Diane was a CCD teacher for St. Christine’s Parish, a Brownie and Girls Scout leader and a Parent Volunteer for the South River School!
Sara Hendrickson:
Sara is a Senior at MHS. She is actively involved in the School’s Music Dept. through Marshalairs, Concert, Choir and Color Guard. She also plays the piano and sings; but not at the same time!! Sara enjoys working with children and helping them to explore. In the future she hopes to be a Teacher in an elementary or middle school.
Fun facts about Sara: This past summer she toured Europe with the American Music Abroad Gold Tour. Sara visited France, Germany, Austria, Italy and Switzerland. Sara has been involved in Girls Scouts for 12 years. Sara also volunteered at Camp Wind in the Pines for 4 years as a Program Aide.
Alex Chin:
Alex is a junior at Marshfield High School. He enjoys sports and working with kids. We look forward to Alex joining the staff at the Governor Winslow Site.
Recreation Child Care Center
Elizabeth Laudermilk
Liz has worked for the Recreation Department for 16 years. During her 43 years working with parents and children. Liz has taught in the public school schools, (grades 2,4, and 5) private tutoring, town playgrounds and other After School Child Care programs. Liz always comes up with great craft
ideas for the students to work on.
Sarah Garretson
Sarah has worked for the Recreation Department for 10 years. She has spent many summers working for the Furnace Brook 1/2 Day Program. Sarah worked during the day as a Lead Teacher for Weymouth Pre-School.
Sarah Weston
Sarah is a senior at MHS. She has many hobbies and enjoy volunteering. Sarah plays violin at the MHS, and she volunteers at Project Reach at Martinson Elementary. Sarah worked at the child care center last year. (Sarah also attended the Extended Day Program while she was in elementary school). During the summer Sarah had lots of fun working at Daniel Webster Playground as a counselor. She also participated in the Relay for life with the National Honor Society. You may also
see Sarah at Roche Brothers Supermarket where she works part time.
Mary Clare McCorry
This is Mary Clare's first year working with the Recreation Department. Mary Clare is a student at Marshfield High School, where she is a member of the High School Swim Team!! Mary Clare's older sister Nina, also worked for the Recreation Department at the Martinson Extended Day Program.

Kaitlin Henriksen
Kaitlin is a lifelong resident of CityMarshfield, and will be starting her junior year at PlaceNameplaceMarshfield PlaceTypeHigh School as a honors student. She has played on the MHS tennis team for the past 2 years. She is a member of the Student Council’s executive board. Kaitlin’s experience with children includes babysitting for the past 4 years and tutoring through Project Reach. She looks forward this summer to combining her love of tennis with her love or working with children. Fun Fact: Kaitlin is a graduate of the Recreation Department’s licensed After School Child Care Program
Kyra Holmquest
Kyra is entering her junior year at placePlaceNameMarshfield PlaceTypeHigh School. She enjoys running cross country and indoor track for the school. She has been playing tennis since she was 6 years old. Kyra has been playing 2nd singles for the past 2 years on the CityplaceMarshfield girl’s tennis team. She is a member of the Marching Band and Band at the high school as well. When she’s not running, playing tennis, or being part of the halftime show at Marshfield High, Kyra plays the French horn in the Greater Boston Youth Symphony Orchestras. She is always on the go and loves working with kids!! Fun Fact: Kyra’s older brothers, Brian and Sean worked for the recreation department as Tennis and Playground Counselors.
Peter Igo Park Courts
Jessica Mederios
Jess is 19 years old, and while in High School she played on the tennis team. Jess took tennis lessons from the Recreation Department while growing up and was one of the first students to participate in our Teen Tennis League. Jess loves reading and is a big Harry Potter fan. When not teaching on the courts, you’ll find her at the beach or playing tennis with friends. She’s also involved in cheerleading and is competing on a dance team. In the fall Jess will be attending the Blaine School of Hair Dressing. Fun Fact: Jess is a graduate of the recreation department’s pre school program.
T.J. Blinn
TJ is a 17 year old senior at MHS and has played tennis on the MHS Tennis team for three years. T.J. is proud to announce that he has been selected as the Captain for the 2006-07 Boys Tennis Team. In addition to tennis, T.J. plays baseball, ran indoor track and plans to run cross country this fall. Fun Fact: T.J. was our very first Tennis Volunteer!!
Teen Tennis League
For the past five years the Teen Tennis League has attracted a solid following. This is an ideal way to meet new friends while improving your tennis skills. Our dynamic duo, TJ Blinn and Kyra Holmquest will be leading the way for this Monday and Wednesday night program. (sorry Teen Tennis is now full)
Furnace Brook 1/2 Day Program
Joanne Medeiros
Joanne has been a dedicated member of the Recreation Department for six years now. She started out as a 13 year old volunteer; this summer will be her sixth summer as a full time counselor. Joanne will be entering her senior year at Westfield State College this fall, where she is studying Elementary Education and Psychology. Joanne has the pleasure of being the captain of the football cheerleaders for the W.S.C. Owls. This will be a very busy summer for Joanne, as she will be working for the Recreation Department, and assorted other jobs. Joanne promises to teach all interested students some of her college cheers. Joanne can often be seen cheering everyone up at Burke’s beach! Give a BIG cheer for Joanne!
Colleen Walls
This fall Colleen will enter her junior year at Assumption College. Colleen has been a member of the MHS basketball and field hockey teams. She also enjoys softball, golf, and tennis, and kick ball. Colleen, along with being an avid sportsperson, is a remarkable singer. She has sung the National Anthem at numerous events including basketball and baseball games and the annual Marshfield Town meeting. Colleen sings at church as well, and is involved in musical theater. Colleen also enjoys musical theater and hanging out on the beach. This is Colleen’s fifth summer working with the Recreation Department. You are sure to hear Colleen singing her way through the summer.
Caitlin Landry
This is Caitlin’s 2nd year at the Furnace Brook ½ Day Program. Caitlin is entering her junior year at Emmanuel College where she is majoring in elementary education. Caitlin’s association with the Recreation Department dates all the way back to when she was in the pre school program!! She is an active in sports and loves the outdoors. Caitlin was involved in many activities while at MHS and fondly remembers her time volunteering at Project Reach. Caitlin is a Disney Trivia buff and welcomes all students and parents to try and stump her each and every day.
Caroline Walls
Caroline is new to the Furnace Brook ½ Day Program. She is entering her sophomore year at Assumption College. She is a graduate of Marshfield High School where she was a member of the basketball, field hockey and softball teams. Caroline likes to spend her free time in the summer hanging out at the beach with her friends and family! Caroline loves to dance, and she looks forward to sharing her talent with all interested children. She is excited to meet everyone this summer! Welcome Caroline!
Travis Dupuis
Travis is a recent graduate of the University of Tampa, where he majored in Communications and Advertising. Travis graduated from Silver Lake High School in 2002, where he was a member of the varsity soccer, wrestling, tennis and cooking teams. He has worked as an Instructional Aide at Martinson Elementary. He is looking forward to a fun filled summer with the kids again this year!
Josh Warren
Josh is a graduate of MHS and studied elementary education for two years at Champlain College in Vermont. Josh is ready to begin his journey locally at Bridgewater State College where he will enter his junior year. During the summer of 2005, John was the “Iron Chef” at Camp Dream, in Fletcher Vermont. Josh was responsible for feeding 180 hungry campers and staff with nothing more than three gas burners and a grill. When he is not working at FB, you may find Josh cooking up some surprises at Cosmo’s Café in Brant Rock.
Denise Sargent
Denise has taught for many years and is presently working at the Martinson School with K-2 special needs students. Denise also coordinates the Recreation Departments Extended Day program at the Martinson School. When not working, she enjoys the beach, biking reading and music. Welcome Denise!!

Catherine Durkin
Catherine will be a senior at Marshfield High School this fall. She plays lacrosse at the high school and plays soccer on Marshfield town teams. Catherine is a part of the Peer Leaders Group at school. She enjoys tanning on the beach and hanging out with her friends. She has volunteered at Daniel Webster Playground for 2 years, and cannot wait to become a counselor!!! Fun Fact! Catherine is an amazing face-painter and won the hula hoop contest when she went to Daniel Webster Playground! Katie Murphy
Katie will be a senior at Marshfield High School this fall. She is a fabulous soccer and lacrosse player on the high school teams. She is involved with Student Council and the Key Club at Marshfield High. Katie enjoys spending some of her free time at the beach. She has worked at Daniel Webster Playground for 5 years, and during the school year you will find Katie working at the Recreation Department’s Extended Day Program at the Martinson Elementary School. Fun Fact!! Katie donated one of her lacrosse sticks and an autographed photo to one of our KNO raffles.
Sarah Weston
Sarah will be a senior at Marshfield High School this fall. She plays the violin and loves perform for students. During the school year Sarah spends some of her afternoons volunteering at Project Reach. Sara also participated in Relay for Life with the National Honor Society this summer. When she’s not playing her violin, Sarah loves to go to the beach! Sarah has volunteered at Daniel Webster for 3 years, and attended since she was 5 years old! Fun Fact!!! Sarah’s little brother attends Daniel Webster Playground! During the school year you will find Sara working at the Recreation Departments Extended Day program at the Recreation Child Care Center.

Maggie Burke
Maggie will be a sophomore at Notre Dame Academy in Hingham. When she was younger she took tennis lessons through Marshfield Recreation. She enjoys sports, especially ice hockey and lacrosse, and loves doing arts and crafts too! She is looking forward to a fun summer at Marshfield Recreation! Maggie’s older brother was a volunteer at the Recreation Department’s Mardayca Day Program.
Tara Faiella
Tara will be entering the 10th grade at Marshfield High School this fall. She loves to play sports, and is on many teams at the high school including the volleyball, basketball, and lacrosse teams. When she was younger, she went to Daniel Webster Playground and always enjoyed her summers spent there. She enjoys working with children and is excited to make everyone’s summer at Daniel Webster fun!!!
Ashley Menard
Ashley attends Carver High School, where she plays on the varsity tennis team. She enjoys all sports, especially tennis and basketball. Ashley is a well rounded student and plans to attend a college for Nursing. She is very outgoing and energetic and loves being around kids. Tom Herrington
Tom is the owner of Ace Archers and he is a Senior Archery Instructor. Tom has instructed archery classes for youth and adults for the recreation department for the past three years. We look forward to Summer, Fall and Spring classes for residents of all abilities, age 8 and older. Additionally Tom is a

FENCING
Jim Mullarkey
3MB stands for Three (3) Mullarkey Brothers, Jack, Ed and Jim., who began fencing in 1963 in Peabody, MA. Over the years they have won many events including the New England Interscholastic Championships, New England Championship, North Atlantic Sectional Championships and the USA National Championships. In addition to Summer Fencing, look for Fall and Winter classes as well.
SUMMER VOLLEYBALL STARS
Coach Horne:
MHS Girls varsity coach for 5 years. Head boys club coach for 2 years. Coach Horne played for the Southeast Women's Open Team in the Baystate Games for the past 4 years and plays for a women's club team through Yankee Volleyball. She graduated from placePlaceNameWake PlaceTypeForest PlaceTypeUniversity in 2000 where she played outside hitter for their varsity team. She is a biology teacher at the high school.
Coach O’Donnell:
Girls JV volleyball coach for 3 years. Varsity Softball coach at MHS. Coach "O'D" plays women's club softball. She has been a high school coach for over a decade and brings a great deal of experience to the program. She is a health teacher at FBMS.
Kirsten Brown:
She will be attending PlaceNameplaceNortheastern PlaceTypeUniversity in the fall and will be majoring in Physical Therapy. Kirsten has been playing volleyball since her freshman year, or 4 years. She was the co-captain of the varsity team in the 2005 season. Her senior year she received an award for Old Colony League All-Star.
Brianna DiBona:
Brianna DiBona has been playing volleyball since her freshman year in high school. She was a soccer player and the decision between soccer and volleyball was hard, but she is glad she chose volleyball because it is the most exciting sport she's ever played. Brianna will be going to PlaceNameplaceLaSalle PlaceTypeCollege in the fall, majoring in Human Services. Throughout high school, Brianna received many volleyball awards such as Old Colony League All Star, Patriot Ledger All Scholastic, MVP at the Northeastern volleyball camp, and has set the record for the most kills and aces in the history of volleyball at placePlaceNameMarshfield PlaceTypeHigh School. Brianna was also the captain of the varsity team in the 2005 season.
Mardayca Day Program
Director…Molly Brooks
Molly grew up in Scituate and went to the University of Vermont where she majored in English. Since graduation she has been working with children. She started as a pre-school teacher in placeStateVermont where she taught for two years. When she moved back to Massachusetts, she taught pre-school in Sudbury. She has now been working for the Marshfield Public Schools for 3 years and is currently an ASD Tutor at the Martinson Elementary School.
Nurse……Tricia Ward, R.N.
Tricia is a graduate of Deaconess’ Hospital School of Nursing. She has over twenty years experience in effectively providing and managing the care of individuals in both the home and hospital settings. Most recently she has become a certified Reiki Master practitioner. Tricia lives in the Rexhame area of Marshfield with her husband, Tom, and daughter, Beatrice “Trixie” and is expecting a baby in October. She is looking forward to enjoying and supporting the children and staff in the Mardayca program this summer.
Nurse……Kara McCarthy, R.N.
Kara is a graduate of Labou’re Nursing School. This is her first year at Mardayca and she is looking forward to meeting all the children. Kara has 20 years of experience in various settings—hospital, home care, private duty, pediatrics, and occupational health at Boston Federal Courthouse. She is new to Marshfield and lives with her husband, Richard, and two children, Kate and Brendan, and not to forget the family dog, Brawley.
Nurse……Paula Allen, R.N., BSN
Paula has been a Marshfield resident for 32 years. She graduated from Marshfield High. Paula received her RN from Quincy College School of Nursing and graduated from Curry College with a BSN. She is currently employed at the Department of Mental Health in Plymouth and also works perdiem in the Marshfield Public Schools. She is married with 2 children and enjoys spending time with her family.
Nurse……Russ Lannon
This will be the 5th summer with the Marshfield Recreation Department for Russ. He is a graduate of Marshfield High School, and Fitchburg State College School of Nursing. Russ worked his way through school at the South Shore Respite Care Center, now known as the Carolina Hill Shelter. Upon graduation Russ put his B.S.N. to good use while employed at Pembroke Hospital’s adolescent unit. In addition to his nursing background Russ is a skilled lobsterman and Arborist. Outside of work you might find Russ on the 2-man beach volleyball circuit, or fishing for tuna with his wife Sarah off their kayak. Welcome back Russ!
Group Leader…Angela Wening
Angela will be a junior at Salve Regina University, in Newport Rhode Island. She is majoring in art and photography. Angela graduated from Marshfield High School in 2004 where she was involved in Key Club and a member of the National Honor Society, as well as on the swim team. In her free time, Angela enjoys spending the day at the beach with her friends. She is thrilled to be back at Mardayca this summer and is looking forward to seeing old and new friends!
Group Leader…Kevin Pleines
Kevin is a Marshfield resident and graduate of Boston College High School. He will be a sophomore at Fairfield University in Connecticut. Kevin plays rugby for Fairfield and is a tour guide. Kevin is also involved with campus ministry. Kevin enjoys boating and the ocean. Kevin was a volunteer at Mardayca while a student at Boston College High School.
Group Leader…Nora McLaughlin
Nora is excited to start her 6th summer at Mardayca!! She is a 2005 graduate of Notre Dame Academy in Hingham. While at NDA, she was a member of the National Honor Society, Key Club and track team. Nora has spent the school year working for the recreation department at one the after school child care programs. In her free time, she visits with family and friends. Nora plans to major in Special Education when she goes to college.
Assistant Group Leader…Christina Holt
Christina will be a junior at Marshfield High School this fall. She loves listening to all different kinds of music. Christina is very excited about Mardayca’s theme this year, because she loves animals. On the hottest days of the summer, she can be found hitting the beaches of Marshfield to escape the heat! She loves playing sports and being outside. This is Christina’s first year at Mardayca, and she is looking forward to meeting everyone!!
Assistant Group Leader…Emily Scott
Emily is a recent graduate of Marshfield High school and will be attending Becker College in Worcester. She is very outgoing and athletic. She plays volleyball and softball. This will be Emily’s 3rd summer at Mardayca. She enjoys working with the children at Mardayca. While not working at Mardayca, Emily spends some of her time babysitting.

Becky will be entering her senior year at Montrose School in Natick. This is her 3rd summer working at Mardayca. Becky is very active in school and belongs to yearbook, chorus, and the dance club. She also enjoys playing the piano and mountain biking in her spare time. She is looking forward to another fun-filled summer at Mardayca!

Joanne Murphy
Joanne has lived in Marshfield for the past 12 years with her husband and 3 children. She is employed by the Town of Marshfield during the school year. Her past assignments have been working with children on the ASD Spectrum at the Daniel Webster, Martinson, and Eames Way Elementary schools. She is looking forward to spending time with the children and attending field trips. During her spare time, she enjoys relaxing on the beach and getting lost in a good book!
Kasey Ochiltree
Kasey just graduated from Houghton College with a degree in Intercultural Studies. She loves to travel and meet new people. She enjoys working with children and plans on getting her Master’s degree in Special Education.
Hayley Sullivan
Hayley is a sophomore at UMass Dartmouth. This is her first summer working at the Mardayca Day Program and she can’t wait to get to know all of the participants. She graduated from Silver Lake Regional High School in Kingston, where she has lived for almost her entire life. She loves going to the beach and reading. She’s hoping for a great summer at Mardayca!
Sarah Carriere
Sarah moved to Marshfield at age 3. She graduated from UMass Dartmouth in 2002, with a degree in Computer Graphics. She has been a substitute teacher here in Marshfield for the past 2 years. She spent the last year working in the ASD program at the Martinson Elementary School. In September, she will be student teaching at the South River Elementary School to complete her Master’s in Elementary Education. She is excited about the summer and working at Mardayca. In her free time she enjoys reading and photography.
