The mission of the Marshfield Housing Authority is to provide safe, sanitary housing through the maintenance of our existing units and the development of new units. The Housing Authority is responsible for approximately 100 units of public low income elderly/handicapped housing and 16 units for families throughout the Town.
The Marshfield Housing Authority operates under Chapter 121B of the Massachusetts General Laws. We are charged with the responsibility of planning and implementing a balanced housing program in the Town. The Authority is responsible for approximately 100 units of state elderly/handicapped housing and 16 units of family housing. The income guidelines are set by the State Department of Housing and Community Development. Income guidelines vary each year, but are based on the Federal Income Limits.
Income limits for qualification are: One person, $43,850 up to eight persons $82,700. There is no asset limit. Marshfield residents are entitled to a preference while applying for public housing in Marshfield. You must fill out an application and if you are determined eligible and qualified for housing, you will be placed on a waiting list. Applications can be sent or picked up at the office. Non residents are allowed to apply for public housing in Marshfield, but must understand that there is a very long wait list. As the process moves along, an applicant must keep in touch with the Housing Authority, notifying them of any changes in residence, income or family makeup.
The Marshfield Housing Authority is always willing to speak with anyone with questions about housing. It is very important to plan for your future. You may not need our services at the present time, but in the near future your friends or family may need our services. We look forward to working with you and helping you find answers to your housing needs.
